This is an unusual party for me. I haven't even seen the host. ..And this man Gatsby sent over his chauffer with an invitation
What! Oh, I beg your pardon.
I thought you knew old sport. I'm afraid I'm not a very good host
I'm Gatsby.
Chapter One- Nick is chatting with Jordan who says she knows somebody who lives in West Egg. When Nick tries to say he knows nobody, Jordan say that he must known Gatsby, which causes Daisy to suddenly get interested in the converstion I chose this scene because it introduces the fact that Daisy knows a Gatsby.
Chapter Two- On the train to New York, Tom decides to introduce Nick to his gal. When they get to Wilson's garage Tom tells Myrtle to go to the train, and starts to chat with Nick. I chose this scene because it introduces the woman who Tom is having an affair with, which is important to the plot as it progresses
Chapter Three-Nick has been invited to a party by Gatsby, which never happens. During the party, Nick walks up to a person and starts chatting with him, and soon finds out it is Gatsby and feels embarrassed for not knowing so. I chose this scene because it introduces gatsby to the story as a "permanent character.
