Storyboard Text

  • (Addressing the audience) I implore you gentlemen, let her not hurt me.#160;
  • (Tauntingly) You perhaps may think I can match her, because she is something lower than myself.#160;
  • Helena pulls Hermia to the ground after Hermia tries to sink her nails on Helena's eyes. Hermia falls to stage right, and Helena stands up on centre stage. Helena victimizes herself and addresses the audience for help. Then, she proceeds to taunt Hermia about her height.#160;
  • (Conciliatory)#160;Good Hermia, do not be so bitter with me. I evermore did love you, Hermia.#160;
  • Enraged by Helena's taunting comment, Hermia stands up and starts chasing Helena around stage. As she is escaping, Helena shrieks exaggeratedly in terror.
  • (Sorrowful)#160;Let me go. You see how simple and how fond I am.#160;
  • Eventually, Hermia catches up to Helena in downstage centre. Hermia pushes Helena to the ground and, once in the ground, she starts hitting and kicking Helena with ferocity.#160;
  • (Melancholic)#160;A foolish heart, that I leave here behind.
  • (Defensively) So get going! Who is halting you?
  • Helena implores Hermia to stop and she does. Helena then proceeds to stand up and justify herself to Hermia. Her tone of voice is conciliatory and calm because she is trying to get back her friend.#160;
  • As Helena continues with her monologue she starts approaching Hermia. Confused, Hermia moves back towards center left stage. Eventually, Hermia stops moving and Helena puts her hand around her as she says, with sorrow, that Hermia won't have to see her again. Hermia is visibly touched by what Helena is telling her, though she is still bitter because Lysander#160;and Demetrius fell in love with Helena.
  • After a pause, Helena begins to leave, to which Hermia says that she is allowed to leave and rather asks what is stopping her. Helena pauses at center right stage, before exiting, and without looking at Hermia responds with melancholy a foolish heart, that I leave here behind. Helena leaves and Hermia is left alone on stage.#160;
