- The first Battles
- During the French and Indian War, England went and supported the colonists which left them broke. The English wanted their money back so they started taxing the colonists.
- Declaring Independence
- A continental army was set up with George Washington in command. British soldiers were sent to capture the militias weapons, they also marched to Concord to capture colonial leaders.
- The 3 groups
- When the continental army met with the British soldiers the first two battles of the American revolution happened. This also refers to "Shots heard around the world"

- In the second continental congress in May 1775, the colonists voted to declare independence on England. Although not all the colonists wanted to be independent from England.
- There were three groups of people. Loyalists who were loyal to England, patriots who were fighting for freedom, and a neutral group who refused to pick a side. The french also became an ally.
- In 1783, Britain recognized the independence of the United States of America. This was called the Treaty of Paris. A new constitution was created in 1787.
