  • Rome is located in Italy. It was thought to be made around 700 B.C.E. when a Latin tribe built a village that over time became Rome. Rome includes a peninsula and islands in southern Europe.
  • The Etruscan Influence of Sports on the Romans
  • The Myth of Romulus and Remus is a myth that tells the story of a princess that gave birth to 2 boys, Romulus and Remus. The children's father was Mars, the god of war. The uncle of the princess was afraid they would grow up and take his throne, so he ordered his men to drown them in the Tiber river. But before they could drown, a wolf rescued them. When Romulus and Remus eventually grew up, they had decided to build a town on the banks of where the wolf had saved them. But in an argument on whether they named the town Rome, after Romulus or Rem, after Remus Romulus killed his brother in a fight.
  • The Greek influence of architecture on the Roman civilization
  • The Romans were influenced by Etruscan engineering. One of the inventions they were influenced by was the cuniculus. The cuniculus was a long underground trench connected by shafts underground. They used this to irrigate land and to distribute water to their cities.
  • The Greek influence of Writing, Art, and Religion on the Romans
  • The Romans adapted dangerous sporting events. This included slave fighting, which involved 2 slaves of a dead master fighting to the death with small swords and shields.
  • The Romans were influenced by Greek architecture. They were influenced by the Greeks way of making buildings. They also learned to use concrete to create larger structures.
  • While the Romans were influenced by Greek writing, it was indirect. However Greek and Roman alphabet still shared many similarities. The Etruscan and the Romans both admired Greek art and pottery and sculptures. They were influenced by their pottery skills and sculpting skills. The Romans were influenced by Greek gods, and would take the Greek god and blend it with their own characteristics to create their own god based off a Greek god.
