  • Wow, this place is amazing! Can't wait to explore.
  • Welcome to Grand Teton National Park, Jamie!
  • Slide: 2
  • These are the Teton Range, famous for their stunning, rugged peaks.
  • What makes these mountains so special?
  • Slide: 3
  • Most of these rocks are granite, an igneous rock formed from cooled magma.
  • What kind of rocks are these?
  • Slide: 4
  • See the large crystals in this granite? They formed as the magma cooled slowly beneath the Earth's surface.
  • Slide: 5
  • The predominant mineral here is quartz, which is usually white or colorless and very hard.
  • What about these other minerals?
  • Slide: 6
  • They were created by fault-block formation. The Teton Fault caused the Earth's crust to break and tilt, forming these sharp peaks.
  • How did these mountains form?
  • Slide: 7
  • What is that large flat area down there?
  • That's the Jackson Hole valley, formed by glacial erosion.
  • Slide: 8
  • During the Ice Age, glaciers carved out the valley and shaped the landscape
  • Slide: 9

  • Slide: 10
  • Thanks for the tour, Alex. I learned so much today!
