In Fahrenheit 451 Guy Montag is a fireman whose job is to burn books. Montag loves his job and thinks that what he is doing is right.One day while walking he meets a girl named Clarisse who makes him question his life.

When Montag goes to a house to burn books, he sees that the woman who has them is still inside. The firemen threaten the woman if she doesn't leave but she reveals that she has a match and chooses to die in protest. Montag is shocked by this and wonders why the women cared so much about books that she was willing to die.
When Montag comes to Faber's house, he wants him to teach him about the knowledge contained in books. After a while, they come up with a plan to plant books into the firemen's houses. This is important because it will be a reintroduction to books and make people question why they are so important.
Plant the books, turn in an alarm, and see the firemen's houses burn, is that what you mean?

When Beatty discovers that Montag has books he forces him to burn them. When Beatty discovers that Montag has an earpiece he threatens to trace it. Montag realizing Beatty is going to arrest Faber used the flame thrower to kill Beatty.
After killing Beatty, Montag escapes and goes into the woods where he discovers that the people who live there memorize books.
