- Hi there, today we will be looking at the Aztecs. In this slide we will be looking at the Aztec Warriors. If you are a girl you could not be an Aztec Warrior. If you are a noble you start training at age 6, but commoners start training at age 13. The highest warrior rank is the Shorn Ones and they were born as nobles. They often dressed to look like jaguars or hawks. The warriors tried to capture their enemies instead of killing them so they could be sacrificed.
- The Aztects ate many things including maize, beans, squash. chilies , tomato , acocils(fish) , alge cakes, and many other things. They made izatac octil, a fermented juice of the century plant.
- The capitol of the Aztecs was Tenochitilan. It was built on Lake Texcoco. They built the capital up with the artificial islands. They built a big temple to sacrifice people to their gods.
- The Aztecs created the Hanging Gardens. They were manmade islands they built with woven grass on top of stakes put in to the ground of the lake. They build little huts on them and could even plant things on them.
- Interesting Facts. If you drank a lot of cactus juice it was illegal because it was alcoholic. They sacrificed lots of people to please their gods.
- The Aztec empire was formed when they saw a hawk on a cactus, eating a snake. The leaders took that as a sign from the gods to settle there. The Aztec Empire ended when their Emperor was captured by Spanish Conquistadors.
