- I'm going to write a letter to the government about Edwards.
- Families were already living on the land he was supposed to sell. He got angry and asked for their property papers. They did not have these papers so Edwards demanded they pay for the land they have already bought.

- The settlers became angry because they thought that this was not right. When Hayden Edward's son-in-law became the leader of the settlement they became angrier. They thought the election was rigged.

- The people complained to the Mexican Government about Edwards and the government decided to side with the people. They took away Edward's contract and replaced his son-in-law with a new leader.
- People that supportedHayden Edwards decided to keep the new leader from office. The Mexican Government sent some soldiers to stop them. So, the people, Edwards and his brother decided to free themselves from Mexican rule and create the Republic Of Fredonia.
