- Leigh's mom committed suicide while Leigh was kissing her best friend, Alex, and crush in his basement. Little did Leigh know that while she was with her crush/best friend her mom was taking her own life. But shortly after Leigh spotted a big red bird that came to her then disappeared. At that moment she knew that her mother turned into a bird.

- Leigh traveled to Taiwan with her dad to go meet her grandparents that she never met before because her parents lied, saying that her grandparents were dead but they weren't. She explained to her grandparents and another girl who was there to help translate, about how her mom died and turned into a bird. Leigh figured out how many more days she has before her mom is gone for good and to be able to see the red bird, her mom, again she decided to go to each of her favorite places. Which worked. Also while doing that Leigh was able to go back in time with a incense stick and when she burned it, it took her to look at all the memories. Some were hers and some were her parents and grandparents.
- After Leigh spent 48 days after her mother died looking for her it was the last day. The girl who was there to translate at the end turned out to be a ghost this whole time. It was the ghost of her mothers dead sister, her aunt she never knew about until she came to Taiwan. Leigh's mom came at the end as a bird to see her then flew away. She went back home with her dad and was surprised when she saw her best friend/crush she was kissing in the beginning as her mom was dying. THE END
