Storyboard Text

  • All star are born inside a molecular cloud of dust and gas called, Nebulas. The dust and gas are then pulled together with gravity. When the mases become similar, it begins to get hot, and when it becomes hot enough for hydrogen nuclei to fuse together to make helium, a Protostar is formed.
  • The Main Sequence phase starts when the force of gravity holding the star becomes balanced by high pressure from the high temperatures. It also releases energy as heat and light, and can also be seen along side a curve in the HR Diagram.
  • When all of the hydrogen has been used up in the in the fusion process, a larger nuclei will begin to form and will soon become a red giant. It is here that the star's life will go in either of two paths; a white dwarf or a supernova.
  • A star turns into a white dwarf when all of nuclear reactions in a smaller star end and begins to contract under the pull of its gravity. It then begins to cool down, making the star fade and turn white.
  • Larger stars with more mass will go on to create more nuclear reactions. It will then keep getting hotter and expand even more until it explodes into a super nova. The super nova will then explode hot gases into space, creating new molecular clouds for the cycle to start over, and making way for the final phase of its life cycle.
  • Depending on how much mass the star had at the start of its life, the super nova will either leave a neutron star or a black hole.
