  • Hello New South Wales. I'm here to inform you about the dangers of smoking through a story about two young ladies called Lizzy and Elisa.
  • 90% OFF TONIGHT!
  • Lizzy
  • Aw, come on! Stope being such a baby.
  • I'm not being a baby! I just don't think this is a good idea...
  • I, Lucinda Warlmes, apart of the NSW health professional in the government sector, has decided to organise an interview on statewide television, spreading awareness about smoking . After learning about an adolescent's story regarding smoking, I have the urge to inform NSW about such a serious problem which affects 8 million people each year.
  • One day, Lizzy, who was fourteen at the time, saw an ad about smoking on TV while at her friend Elisa's house. It was about how cigarettes were going on sale tonight at her local convenience store.
  • I NEED CIGARETTES!
  • WHEN ARE WE GETTING MORE CIGARETTES?
  • Lizzy doesn't take much consideration about this ad, however Elisa does. Elisa has always wanted to try smoking, so she tries to convince Lizzy to.
  • Great idea Elisa!
  • Lets use STRAT to overcome our addiction!
  • Lizzy feels embarrassed about not being brave enough to try a cigarette, as a result, she listens to Elisa and agrees to go with her to the local convenience store. They're able to sneak out of the house and purchase the cigarettes, using Elisa's older sister's ID card. They decide to try one on the way back home.
  • CONSEQUENCE 1: Lizzy and Elisa begin to enjoy smoking through how addictive it can become. This is because of disturbingly high nicotine levels which reach the brain at rapid speed. Elisa and Lizzy create a horrible habit/addiction, causing them to smoke everyday as well as have a constant urge for cigarettes throughout the day. Statistics show that 33% of people become addicted to nicotine when consistently smoking.
  • POSITIVE STRATEGY 1: To cope with addiction, there is a method called STRAT on helpguide.org, which provides a plan to stop smoking. This stand for Set a quit date, Tell family, friends and co-workers that you plan to quit, Anticipate and plan for the challenges you'll face while quitting, Remove cigarettes and other tobacco products from your surroundings and Talk to your doctor about getting help to quit.
