- Person Vs. Person is being demonstrated in this conflict because Betsy and Amelia are both arguing about the petition for workers rights. This is because Betsy is not able to keep up with the 130 spindles in the spinning room she was assigned to.
- Person Vs. Nature is being demonstrated in this conflict because the rain is weighing her down on her journey to the North. Lyddie was originally going to Massachusetts to look for a job after being fired in the Cutler's Tavern.
- Person Vs. Self is being demonstrated in this conflict because she is struggling with a decision to either turn him in for money or to keep him safe. She was planning on burying the money to use for later.
