After the French and Indian War, Britain was in great debt. In order to pay off this debt they made American colonists pay taxes. The colonists were angry that they were being taxed without representation. So they protested that the act be repealed. Their protesting phrase was "no taxation without representation". It meant that they would not allowing being taxed without a representative in parliament.

The colonists protested against the British Soldiers. This event was labeled as the Boston Massacre. There was a lot of propaganda against this event. The colonist threatened the soldiers to shoot and even dared them. Eventually, the soldiers had gotten confused and shot into the crowd. This led to deaths and injuries.

When tobacco was found in Jamestown, many farmers started growing tobacco. Farmers started to realize how hard and time consuming it was to grow tobacco so they found an alternative. This was a cheap alternative to indentured servants. They bought slaves to grow tobacco for them. Slaves were captured in Africa and put into ships where they had little to no room. Many died from diseases.

After America was finally established as its own country. Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and a few others got to work writing the Declaration of Independence. They discussed and rewrote the Declaration of Independence many times. Eventually it was establish on July 4th, 1776.

After the Boston Tea Party, the King of Britain gave the colonists a punishment. As punishment, he established the Intolerable Acts. The Intolerable Acts consisted of many different laws. One of which was the Quartering Acts. The Quartering Acts forced colonists to house soldiers.
