  • I need some help but I have nowhere to go. I feel empty of any happiness inside.

  • Depression is the loss of interest in joyful activities and the constant feeling of sadness or emptiness. Symptoms of depression are low mood, feelings of worthlessness and sadness, Not enjoying activities, bad concentration and suicidal thoughts. The main causes of depression can include; a significant change in one's life, drugs or alcohol, the loss of a loved one, illness or pregnancy.The loss of a loved one often drives people's minds into depression as they may be the only person holding them back from loneliness. It is good to reach out and be friends with more than just your family so there are a variety of options to go to in hard times.

  • Strategies to cope with depression include not drinking alcohol, staying in touch with people around you, breathing, taking therapy and being active.There are many more strategies to use and help can be found in the people around you, hospitals, therapists and doctors.

  • Therapy is a crucial form of treatment for depression. Professionals can be firstly used as someone to talk to and let your stress out, secondly someone who can possibly get you anti-depressant drugs and thirdly can help overcome the long and short-term effects of depression. Therapists are also great because they can listen to your problems and help find ways to reduce your stress levels.
  • Staying in touch with people around you
  • A second way to fight depression is to stay active. Depression often lowers your energy and your mood, staying active keeps your energy levels high and cheers up your mood. Staying active also keeps you fit and in good shape which is great for your body.

  • Another reason to stay active if you have depression is that if it becomes a hobby or habit and may even continue after when you no longer have depression which will keep you fit and happy. You may even make some new friends!
  • Spending time with your family and friends can help keep your mind off the negative aspects of your life. They are the ones who you will most likely rely upon to help you when you are in dark times of your life or in a hard situation.
