- At the age of 7, he began elementary school, but dropped out after three months. His mother taught him at home
- Thomas was born in Ohio and had 6 siblings. Then they moved to Michigan
- He also started selling vegetables and soon after he also printed and sold his own newspaper
- After some time Edison was able to build a telegraph device himself
- In 1876 he opened his own new laboratory in New Jersey and one of his developments was the carbon microphone
- In the meantime, he experimented and invented until he quit his job and decided to invest in his inventions
- In 1878, Edison founded a new company for electric lighting and devoted all his time to developing an efficient light bulb.
- Since then, Edison has been considered one of the most influential inventions in the world. His inventions influenced technology, industry and modern life today such as: the incandescent light bulb, the phonograph, motion pictures, batteries and the list goes on.
