- Following its independence, Mexico established the impresario system, enabling Americans to purchase goods at reduced costs. The first and most successful impresario to lure 300 families to Texas was Stephan F. Austin.
- Cheap Land
- Mier y Teran warned Mexican authorities in a report that they risked losing Texas if nothing was done. He said that to reduce the likelihood of additional Anglo immigrants from the United States, Texas should be made less appealing to immigrants.
- The purpose of the April 6th, 1830, ordinance was to deter people from moving to Texas. The legislation prohibited the importation of slaves into Texas, imposed taxes on all imported goods, and dissuaded traders.
- To defend themselves against the Native Americans, the Mexican government provided the Texans with a cannon. The Mexicans then gave the idea that the Texans may use it against them some thought. The Texans refused to give them the cannon back when they requested. There was a conflict about the canon that resulted in unnecessary deaths.
- The intention was to put every prisoner taken prisoner by Mexico to death. after a letter to Santa Anna inquiring as to if they were required to be killed. In response, Santa Anna stated that it was disrespectful of them to request and carry out such action. That day saw a great number of deaths, which contributed to the Texans' victory against Mexico.
- This is the battle that won Texas its independence. Sam Houston's army snuck up to Santa Anna’s army and was able to defeat them. After they were able to create the Treaty of Velasco. Santa Anna died in poverty.
