- The musical starts off with Eddie and Mickey dead on the floor and the narrator standing there and says, "The Story of the Johnstone Twins."

- Mrs Johnston had two twin babies (Mickey and Eddie) but was too poor to care for both of them. Mrs Lyons couldn't have children so she took Eddie to care for him like her own. The boys were never told they were twins. Mrs Lyons fired Mrs Johnstone who was her cleaner. 7 year later the boys found each other and struck up a friendship with each other and a girl called Linda.
- The boys get in trouble with Linda and get apprehended by the police, but when the police takes them home they are kind on Mrs Lyons but not so nice with Mrs Johnstone.
- The Lyons move away but Mrs Johnstone give Eddie a locket with her and Mickey in it to keep. 7 year later, the boys and Linda end up finding each other, both of the boys love Linda but Linda loves Mickey. Mickey is too self-conscious to tell her how he feels.
- Mickey finally tells Linda of his feelings and they get married. Mickey ends up going to jail though for theft and gets addicted to drugs. When he gets released he finds out Linda and Eddie were getting a little too comfortable with each other, he storms into one of Eddie's meetings- with a gun.
- Mickey threatens Eddie and the police come to the scene. Mrs Johnstone arrives and begs Mickey not to hurt Eddie, telling them they are brothers. Mickey gets so angry because he could have been rich like Eddie, so he fires the gun, killing Eddie and making the police shoot him too.
