- What is going on? They skipped me
- What?
- "I know, that you are all concerned. That you feel I have made a mistake. Jonas has been selected as the Receiver of Memory.
- "We have had our current Receiver for a very long time. We could not afford another failure.
- So when they are all at the Ceremony, Jonas's number is 19 but then they skipped his number. What this shows is that Jonas is scared that his number didn't get called and that he is worried that he would not get an assignment.
- You have shown all of the qualities that a Receiver must have. Intelligence... Integrity... Courage... Wisdom.
- Jonas is clearly shocked that he just got selected as a job that he did not know of. Now he is going to ask questions of what that job is.
- Jonas, thank you for your childhood!
- What this scene is telling us that they had the current Receiver for too long and that they need to get a new one. This also shows that they are running out of time and that they can not afford another failure.
- What this shows is that Jonas has all of the qualities of a Receiver.
- What this shows is that the crowd is accepting Jonas's job and that they trust that he will do great things.

- Jonas now knows his job and he is scared of what us yet to come.
