  • Gender Roles: Gender roles are often stereotypical views of how men and women should act. The roles fall into three different categories, masculinity, femininity, and androgyny. Females are often expected to act feminine, while men are expected to act masculine. Androgyny is when a mixture of the two occur in a person.

  • Emotional Communication: Emotional Communication refers to how men and women express their emotions when communicating. Men are typically more shut off and less emotional. They may show strong facial expressions or reactions to anger and jealousy and show less positive emotions. Women show more positive emotions and act in ways that show their attachment to someone better.

  • Affectionate Behavior: Affectionate behavior is how we express our love and appreciation for those that we care about. Females are more likely to show their love and affection via physical touch like hugging and kissing. Men are thought to be less affectionate as to not look feminine.
