- Mrs. Dubose said a offense comment about Atticus and Jem got really mad.
- "Not only a Finch waiting on tables but one in the courthouse lawing for n******!" Ch.11
- "He did not begin to calm down until he had cut the tops off every camellia bush Mrs.Dubose owned, until the ground was littered with green buds and leaves". Ch.11
- Since Jem got really mad he decided to cut the tops of Mrs. Dubose bushes as a revenge to calm him down.
- Jem was not truly sorry for actions but he received a punishment from Mrs. Dubose which is to come every afternoon after school and Saturdays and read to her out loud for two hours, for a month.
- "There was no point in saying you were sorry if you aren't". Ch.11
- "I cleaned it up for her and said I was sorry, but I ain't and that I'd work on 'em every Saturday and try to make 'em grow back out". Ch.11
- I got in trouble that day because I had hurt my brother but I was really mad because they gave me a hard punishment for just pushing my brother off the bed.
- "I pushed my brother off the bed because he kept moving around and he started crying when then my parents entered".
- "Why did you that!" "you know your not supposed to hurt your younger brother!"
- "Since I was really mad i decided to water the plants we had outside until they were no longer standing up".
- "I'm sorry to all of you".
- I had more punishments for the more actions I did and I apologized to clear everything.
- "You will do all the inside and outside chores for 2 weeks and you will not be able to play outside until you finish your chores each day".
