- Act 2 Scene 2
- O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo?Deny thy father and refuse thy name.
- Romeo and Juliet Juliet's Balcony
- By whose direction found’st thou out this place?
- By love, that first did prompt me to inquire.He lent me counsel and I lent him eyes. I am no pilot.
- Romeo is spying on Juliet and hears what she thinks of him (Rebellion)
- Do not swear at all.Or, if thou wilt, swear by thy gracious self, Which is the god of my idolatry,And I’ll believe thee.
- What shall I swear by?
- This scene shows how the fate of Romeo and Juliet has already been set in place. Their rebellion is a big stable in their relationship. If it wasn't for Romeosrebellion to see Juliet at her balcony they wouldn'thave gotten engaged and the tragedy wouldn't go on.
- Act 2 Scene2
- The clock struck nine when I did send theNurse.In half an hour she promised to return.Perchance she cannot meet him. (I.V.1-3)
- Juliet and Romeo know what they are doing is wrong but their love is so strong they are willing to bend the rules by meeting eachother secretly.
- Juliet and The NurseCapulets house
- I am aweary. Give me leave awhile.Fie, how my bones ache! What a jaunt have I! (I.V.25)
- I would thou hadst my bones and I thy news.Nay, come, I pray thee, speak. Good, good Nurse, speak.(I.V.27-28)
- Juliet tells Romeo not to swear his love on anything. for things change and just swear on himself. This love is so risky and strog Juliet can not risk a broken heart. If shr rebels to be with him he needs to be in all the way and she needs to trust him.
- Then hie you hence to Friar Lawrence’s cell.There stays a husband to make you a wife.(I.V.61-62)
- Juliet caught herself not trusting Romeo. She sends the nurse out to go talk to Romeo about their engagement. Juliet worries that this is all for nothing and that she disobey her parent for nothing.
- Juliet is eager for the nurses news.
- Juliet sends the nurse to get word from Romeo to see if he will marry Juliet. (Rebellion)
- Hie to high fortune! Honest Nurse, farewell(I.V.71)
