- In 1950, North Korea decided to invade South Korea because they wanted to reunite the country to have it all under communist rule. President Truman sent troops under the support of the UN and under general Douglas MacArthur. They were defeated and they went up North Korea getting too close to the Chinese border causing 2 more years of war.
- Cold War
- President W. Bush feared that Iraq dictator Saddam Hussein might be hiding weapons of mass destruction. The U.S then invaded Iraq in March 2003. Iraq was defeated in the end.
- Cuban Missile crisis
- Saddam Hussein, a dictator in Iraq invaded Kuwait, a neighboring country, and George W. Bush decided to do something about it. They wanted to do this because, they wanted to protect where they get oil from & for humanitarian reasons. When the dictator refused to leave Kuwait, the U.S and other forces defeated Iraq, When they were leaving Kuwait oil wells on fire.
- War on Terror
- The cold war was right after WWII. The Soviets had a communist dictator while The U.S had a democracy. They had a tension because the soviet union took over a few countries and put them over communist rule. The U.S decided t provide aid and support to anyone resisting communist rule.
- In 1962, American spy planes discovered that Cubans were building bases for nuclear missiles.
- On September 11, 2001, 2 commercial planes flew into the World Trade center in NYC, and the Pentagon building in Washington D.C. An Islamic terrorist group was responsible for this attack
