  • THE MONKEY AND THE TURTLE
  • One very sunny day, best friends Turtle and the Monkey were walking along a river bank and spotted a floating banana tree in the water.
  • Sure, I’ll help you if you help me carry my half to my home.
  • Thanks for helping me. Can you help me carry it to my home, too?
  • Well, I did help you get that tree out of the water, which you never would've gotten out without my help. I have as much right to that tree as you do.
  • Your half? What do you mean by "your half"?
  • Well, cut the tree in half, and each of us takes one half.
  • Let's split this tree.
  • I'll show Turtle. I'm going to grow the best banana in town!
  • Meanwhile,Turtle dragged the half with the roots on the and to his home he didn’t mind that he got the bottom half of the tree, the one with the roots.
  • His hungry eyes taking in the prize of their hard work, admiring it.Turtle was confused. He helped out too! Surely he would get same of banana tree? Pagong sighed and watched as Monkey tried to carry the banana tree by himself, but he failed multiple times.
  • Monkey stopped suddenly and dropped the log with a weary thud, narrowly missing his feet.He turned to Turtle and let out a boisterous laugh.Monkey groaned loudly but didn't say anything.
  • Monkey quickly interrupted, pointing to the top half of the tree with the green leaves.Turtle muffed as Monkey.Got an axe and chopped the tree in half.
  • Okay, I guess that's settled then.
  • I would climb up the tree and I will gather all of the bananas and bring it back down for both them to share.
  • Monkey started to carry the half with the banana leaves on his shoulders to his home, without even saying goodbye to Turtle. He was certain that this half would grow faster as Turtles half, as it already has leaves on.Hmph, monkey mumbled as he continued his trek home.
  • Turtle know that Monkey is a better faster and faster climber Man him. He also know how sad Monkey was when his tree had died, so he agreed. Turtle wanted to see his friend happy again.
  • He was certain that his tree would grow and bear beautiful bananas. So, he walked along happily to his house.
  • That night, both Turtle and Monkey planted their trees next to their houses. Every day they would come home and water their trees.
  • Humm, grinning wickedly as Turtle fidgeted in his ties, trying to find a way out.
  • After sometime, Monkey's plant slowly browned and died, while Turtle’s tree grows and bore bananas like we had expected.
  • Monkey grew cold, and envious of Turtle's tree.
  • One day, when Monkey visited pagong, he struck a deal with him.
  • Monkey grinned when Turtle agreed. He climbed up eagerly and gathered all of home bananas, but instead of bringing the bananas back down to than to share, he started to eat it white on top of the tree.
  • Turtle was mad when he realized Monkey had tricked him, he placed thorns around the tree to try and get back at him. When Monkey climbed down, he yelped and got pricked by the thorns.
  • Monkey bared his teeth. He felt mad at Turtle for outsmarting him. So, after he got all the thorns out of his body, he chased theTurtle and tied him to a tree.
  • What shall I do with you? Cook you?
  • Turtle was horrified, but put on a forced smite, trying to think of a way to talk to Monkey out of that horrible idea.
  • That's great idea! Cook me and I'll get the best skin in the land!
