Hi my name is Eddie. This is my wife; Flore and my 2 sons; Michael Andre. This is my story.
Yes, Walter very good!
GET OFF THE FLOOR YOU WIMP!!!
Sir, your needed at the gas chambers, someone has escaped.
Hi my name is Abraham Jakubowicz but you can call me Eddie. I was born in Leipzig Germany in 1920. I am a survivor of the holocaust and on my 100th birthday, I published my memoir, ‘The Happiest Man on Earth’ which chronicles my survival story and my dedication to advocate for peace and kindness in the world.
I was the only Jewish student at my school but it was not a problem until Adolf Hitler came to power. My family sent me to a boarding school, where I used the name Walter Schleif, out of fear that others might realise I was Jewish. I was a very hardworking student and studied mechanical engineering. I even graduated my class as the top apprentice toolmaker!
Thank You for Listening!
Luckily my family were able to escape but we were soon captured and sent to Auschwitz. My mother, aged 43, and my father, aged 50, were murdered in a gas chamber. I was spared because I proved of some use to the Nazis due to my engineering skills. I experienced horrible conditions everyday at my time in Auschwitz . I was malnourished, sleep deprived, slave laboured and torchered among many other horrendous conditions.
I think he's going to die!
I survived the second march but managed to escape and lived in a cave in a forest, eating slugs and snails for about 2 months. I was on the verge of dying but managed to crawl to a highway where American soldiers rescued me. It was June 1945 and the war was finally over but Eddie was in terrible shape. I weighed only 28kg, had cholera and typhoid- the nurse told me I had a 65% chance of dying.
