  • The Cell TheoryBy: Mackenzie Robinson
  • Let's learn more about the cell theory and the scientists that discovered it!
  • Hooke was looking through a microscope at a piece of cork. While looking at it he found tiny spaces, that he thought looked like criminal cells. He than decided that the tiny spaces would be called cells, and this is what they are called to this day.
  • Oh my! The tiny spaces in the cork look like tiny criminal cells. That's it! Hooke you are a genius. I will call these tiny spaces cells!
  • Listen everybody! I found the nucleus of the cell! Cells are the very basic unit of structure and function of living things, even you! Listen one day you will believe me!
  • Brown discovered the nucleus of a cell. He realized that the nucleus of the cell was necessary for fertilization. His findings helped contribute to the second part of the cell theory. Cells are the basic unit of structure and function.
  • I think he is crazy!
  • OH my golly! Every animal I have looked at have had cells. Even this pig! That can only mean one thing, all animals are made of cells!
  • Schwann contributed the cell theory because he discovered that all animals are made of cells. This discovery contributes to the first part of the cell theory.
  • All these plants are made of cells! This can only mean that all plants in the entire worlds are made up of cells.
  • Schleidan contributed to the cell theory because he made the discovery that all plants are made up of cells. Schleidan and Schwann's discovery make up the first part of the cell theory. Which is all living organisms are composed of one or more cells.
  • Oh my the cells seem to be coming each other. It's like they are dividing from themselves. This is a great discovery!
  • Now that we learned all about the cell theory lets review. Hooke coined the name "cell", which is what cells are called to this very day. Schwann and Schleidan's discovery's combined created the 1st part of the cell theory which is that all organisms are composed of one or more cells. Brown's discovery's ties into the 2nd part of the cell theory which is, Cells are the basic unit of structure and function. Finally Virchow discovered that cells come from other cells. This is very important. It ties together the 3rd part of the cell theory, that cells come from preexisting cells. This is the cell theory.
