- I sat excitedly by the computer, waiting to hear the *ding of mail. I could not wait to read what Mia had written me. I read her stories with fascination and crafted my own. I told her about what I had done at school and family drama. Those emails became our friendship lifeline.

- It wasn't just us sharing mundane details about our lives, looking back we were crafting a narrative of our own, understanding the challenges we faced, and celebrating our victories. With each day I felt the power of connection through online writing.

- I grew in my writing and storytelling through crafting my emails. I began to realize my communication skills. As we all know, writing is different than speaking. I learned to be more expressive with my writing by using all caps to convey I was angry, exclamation marks when I was excited, and emojis to convey my emotions.

- These experiences taught me to write with clarity and re-read and revise my stories to make sense to Mia. I became aware of my own writing and grew as a writer through this experience as I began to reflect on my writing.
- Emails turned into texting, video calls, and using social media when we both got our phones at the age of 14. These diverse platforms strengthened our friendship further. Video calling provided us with face-to-face time and social media kept us up to date on our lives at all times. We shared moments through images and wrote captions to convey how we were feeling.
- Through these experiences with Mia, I learned the importance of online writing and its powerful way to connect with the ones we love.
