- The Estates General took place in Versailles on may 5, 1789. King Louis XVI was confronted by the commoners about the tax burden. The commoners were unsuccessful of the French Revolution. This even also lead to rage by the commoners.

- The deputies of the third estate, realizing that in their attempt at reform they would be outvoted by the two privileged orders. Being locked out of their meeting room they meet in an indoor tennis court where they made the oath never to separate until a written constitution had been established in France. They meet on June 20 1789 in Versailles

- On July 14 1789 the people of France decided to storm the Bastille and gain back their rights. When they stormed the building they seized control of the medieval armory, fortress, and the political prison. When they got the control of all the things they got a hold of the governor and shot him.
