Shortly after the November revolution, The Bolsheviks formed a new government institution named Sovnarkom.Lenin put an end to capitalism and abolished the orthodox church. The Sovnarkom provided unemployment and health insurance, and also set a limit to work hours to 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week
The Bolshevik Government
Lenin established the USSR in 1922 comprising a confederation of Russia, Belorussia, Ukraine, and the Transcaucasian Federation. The Union's government was structured after Sovnarkom
After The establishment of the USSR, Lenin suffered from a series of strokes, and lost this ability to speak. On January 21, 1924, Lenin fell into a coma in the age of 53. Lenin's coffin was moved to Moscow, then placed in the Red Square.

Leon Trotsky, who was the commander of the Bolshevik army, suggested continuing the world revolution. On the other hand, Stalin suggested socialism in one country.
Stallin's Rise to Power
Stalin's idea was more popular among the Bolshevik communists, because Stalin was more of a man to his people. However, Stalin still saw Leon Trotsky as a threat to his power. Therefore, he sent the NKVD, who were his secret police to assassinate Trotsky.
5 Year Plans (Industry)
After Stalin became the dictator of the soviet union, Stalin was afraid that the West would attack the Soviet Union so he designed a plan for Russia to become an Industrialized country in a short given time.
The First 5 year plan focused on the heavy industries such as pig iron, oil, steel, and coal. Stalin gave medals and awards to those who worked exceptionally well and gave benefits according to how much they produced. In a span of 4-5 years, the USSR doubled their industrial output.
During the 5 year plan, Stalin also Collectivized agriculture and distributed new machines through out the USSR. The Collective farms in the Soviet Union were called Kolkhozes
5 Year Plans (Agriculture)
The creation of collective farms wasn't a fond idea to the kulaks, who were the wealthy peasants who owned farm land. The kulaks resisted by killing their arm animals and burning their crops instead of turning them over to the government. Agricultural production was so low that famine broke out all over the USSR
Stalin performed show trials against trotskyists and anyone who would threaten his power over the communist party. Stalin executited many defandants this way.
Stalin's Purges
In 1936 to 1938, Stalin also held a campaign known as the great purge which began with the assasination of the general Kirov. The great Purge was eliminate dissenting members of the Communist Party and anyone else he considered a threat. The total amount deaths from this purge is estimated to be 681,692–1,200,000 deaths
