- Circe told Odysseus how to get to the black shore and how to attract the spirits of the dead.
- Book 12
- Odysseus then meets Tiresias who then tells him two things that can or may not happen. He also talks to his mother to see how things are at home.
- Helio's cattle
- The spirits began chasing Odysseus and his men so they fled for the ship.

- Circe had warned Odysseus about the sirens and the six-headed dragon. She also told him how to avoid them and the consequences.
- After that Odysseus lost some men but he made it to Thrinacia. Odysseus reminded his men was Tiresias had said about the cattle on this island. He told his men not to eat or touch them.
- His crew did not listen and they feasted on the cattle. Out back at sea Zeus attacked there ship and only Odysseus survived. He spent a couple days in the ocean and then he made it to Odygia where he met Calypso.
