I am feeling very---
GET BACK TO WORK YOU PEASANT!
Groaning from tiredness
HELP ME! I'm bleeding!
I can feel my spirit rising with embers of hope and boldness taking the place of weakness.
I am super surprised that Douglass could fight like that. I am not going to tell anyone. After all, I am the slave breaker!
Douglass fell down to the floor and stopped the fan from the wheat. As doing so, Covey came to see what the commotion was. There he saw Douglass lying in the shade crumbled up into a ball sweating crazily. Covey walked over and told Douglass to get up. We only heard whimpering from Douglass. That made Covey give Douglass a savage kick on his side.
As Covey strove to tie Douglass’ feet with the rope, Douglass grabbed a hold of Covey’s neck. They were both holding on to each other like that but then eventually Covey gave up. This was a chance for Douglass to return that savage kick back to Covey. Covey laid there trembling on the ground.
Douglass was feeling flecks of hope rising up his body. He had this feeling of new maturity wash over him. He had just defeated his worst enemy.
Covey was feeling this wave of embarrassment suddenly flushing over him. He was broken by a slave when he was supposed to be the slave breaker.
