- Climate is a long term weather event that happens slowly over time. For example its been raining for more than a week here.
- The Earth has always been different. For example the Ice Age was a mass climatic event that made things colder.
- Scientist use tree rings to help identify weather. For example tree rings have many layers to help us identify the current weather based on their size, and marks. Thick tree rings indicate that their has been moist seasons, while thin rings indicate dry seasons.
- Every ten thousand years the Earth orbit changes into an oval, causing the position to be further away. This cycle is called the Milankovitch Cycle. The father the Earth is away from the sun, the colder it gets.
- When volcanoes erupt ash, which leads to the atmospheres blocking the sun rays, making the Earth cooler. This is an example of Earth's climate changing.
- Ocean currents can change certain Earth climates. For example the Gulf Stream passed through Florida and the Caribbean. Due to the movement of the tectonic plates, the Gulf of Mexico is warm
