The sixth commandment gets changed after the terror of slaughter by the traitors in the barn. Clover asks Benjamin to read it out and this now reads: No animal shall kill any other animal, without cause
The animals work harder and harder throughout the year. Their productivity is rising however they feel they would rather have less food than work so hard. This was reported by Squealer. On the other hand Napoleon is rarely seen around.
Eventually Napoleon decides to sell timber to the humans in order to get some cash. He chooses to sell to farmer Frederick and insists on getting the on the spot. The transaction happens however Napoleon soon realizes that Frederick has paid him with fake money and basically he got scammed whereas Frederick got the timber for free! Anger and frustration builds up!
An attack is prepared by the animals and ''Death to Frederick'', is announced. Being aware of this the next day Frederick comes with more men and loaded guns. The animals are driven back to the Farmhouse and barn.
The animals don't just obey but fight back. During this fight Frederick and his men destroy the windmill. The animals defeat the men, who eventually retreat. In the fight, Boxer gets injured and other animals are killed. To celebrate their victory Squealer brings the animals together and lets off a gun salute!
During the celebration, the pigs find a case of whisky in the farmhouse. They drink it and become intoxicated - the animals are worried they might have been poisoned. However the animals soon discover that Squealer blacked out with a tin of paint next to him. The fifth commandment is changed to No animal shall drink alcohol to excess.
