Storyboard Text

  • The sun had almost fully set and the sky was growing darker. The pavement was covered in ice and snow, surrounded by bare winter trees. Only a small light coming from a window of a nearby house. Why did mother and I have to move here, to Canada? Back home was warm, and sunny, unlike what I’ve experienced here. I continue to walk, spotting my mother peering through the window, waiting for me, like every other day. I ring the doorbell and my mother answers greeting me with a warm hug. I wipe my boots off on the doormat and enter the house. My mother helps me undress, taking off my boots and my thick blue coat.
  • Mother had already set the table for dinner. She placed the hot food on the table as I watched the steam rise to the ceiling. Mother started a conversation about our two cats, then suddenly stopped. “What did he do when you gave him dried food?” I ask. “Mother, are you listening to me?” “Oh I don’t remember, I think he scratched the ground near his bowl and left.” Our conversation about cats ended shortly after and we sat in silence while we ate dinner.Mother suddenly asks, “So what did u do at school today?” “Oh, the usual” I reply “We drew pictures like we do every other day. We never study like you said you did at your old school. Today I drew a family… our family. Want to see it?” “Sure, let’s go into the living room first.”
