- Jonas is at the Annex training and today he is learning about colors. While learning Jonas begins to think of why the other people in his community cannot see color as he can, He feels tha it is unfair. He feels that without color there are no choices.
- After Jonas expresses how he feels , the giver explains to I'm why this is. Jonas took it in easily because this was something knew . The giver said they are color blind they can only see gray and white. They do not have any choices, no choices of spouse, jobs etc. Due to the fact that people may choose wrong.

- Still angry Jonas tries to get Asher to see the color but it does not go over so especially when he tries to touch him, which is a BIG NO NO in the community
- Come on Asher you dont see anything?

- Later the giver transmits a memory, This time not like a dream, this was more like a nightmare.He transmitted the memory of the killing of elephants.
- Elephant is tied by troop men and shot multiple times!!!!!
- It was horrific! Jonas had never seen such an unpleasant sight before in his lifetime. Since Jonas was now seeing red, he saw the blood gush from the elephants large body.

- When Jonas got home, knowing that Lily's comfort animal was an elephant he tried to explain to her that at one time elephants were real. She did not believe him at all.
