I think it's likely that Sacco was involved in the crime, as later ballistics tests tied his gun to the shooting. However, I believe Vanzetti was almost certainly innocent because there was no physical evidence linking him to the scene. Honestly I feel they were both found guilty because people at the time feared them and disliked that they were immigrants the trial was so biased that I believe they were both innocent but because of their past they were guilty.

Over 100 witnesses testified that the two men were elsewhere during the robbery. This included an Italian Consulate official who confirmed Sacco was in Boston applying for a passport and several residents who saw Vanzetti selling fish in Plymouth at the time of the murders.

In 1925, a prisoner named Celestino Madeiros confessed that he and the Morelli gang—a group of professional robbers—actually committed the crime. This gang matched the physical descriptions of the attackers better than Sacco and Vanzetti, and they were known to use the same type of .32 caliber pistols found at the scene.
