When Sergeant-Major Morris goes to visit Mr. White, he shares a tale about a monkey's paw and it ability to grant three wishes. Curious, Mr. White takes the monkey's paw and wishes for two hundred pounds to see if the myth of the monkey's paw is true.
Resolution
After Mr. white's first wish, the very next and they receive news their son, Herbert was horribly injured because of a factory machine and in return for his son's injury he receives his two hundred pounds
Theme
His wife is in misery about his son's injury by the fact that he might not even make it. She begs her husband to wish for Herbert to come back without knowing the bad misfortune every wish has
Ms. White hears a knock at the door moments later and rushes to open the door thinking it's her son, as she's opening the door Mr. White whispers his last wish and goes to downstairs to comfort his grieving wife to the empty street as there was no one there
