- John Brown- Born in 1800 , Torrington Connecticut John Brown was a radical abolitionist, and fought in the period of Bleeding Kansas, and even drafted a new constitution. He killed 5 men in the duration of Bleeding Kansas.
- Why is this important
- He gathered with his 18 men in a barn trying not to draw attention to himself. After many months, October 16th he takes his men and advances towards Harpers ferry and frees enslaved people and captures slave owners. By 7 am townsmen start firing at Brown and his men at the armory and by 10 militia units are taking position to surround brown and his men. They lastly take browns men without him, sent up a white flag to surrender. They take browns men into anhouse. Beown breaks in and some are wounded.

- John Brown was considered a martyr to not only the north but to slaves who are pro to fighting for slavery at their most. The north strengthened their forces against to south and help bring the light to abolishing slavery
- Bleeding Kansas and the rise of republican act were prime starts of acts of rebellion from the north side and punishments against it like Charles sumner, being beat with a cane, and the division of politics, republican and democratic, forming an anti slavery side to act back.
