- Little Jeffrey was shipped off to his nearest relatives, Aunt Dot and Uncle Dan. They lived in Holidayburg, in the western part of Pennsylvania. They both hated each other. Page 5 & 6

- As for the first person to actually stop and talk with Maniac, that would be Amanda Beale. It was around eight in the morning, and Amanda was heading for grade school, like other kids all over town. She was carrying a suitcase.Page 10

- She tore a book from the suitcase, hurled it at him- " Here!"- and dashed into school. The book came flapping like a wounded duck and fell at Jeffrey's feet.Page 13

- Maniac shows up for dinner with the Pickwells—along with all ten of their kids, the baby, the grandparents, the great-grandfather and a random taxi driver who just needed a hand.Page 20
- He bit off a chunk of the candy bar he was holding. "Where you goin '? " he said. I'm looking for Sycamore Street, " said Maniac. Maniac doesn't know he doesn't belong in the East End, and he recognizes Page 34
- The way Maniac fit in, you would have thought he was born there. He played with the little kids, walks Bow Wow, does the dishes, takes out the trash, and etc.Page 45
