Storyboard Text

  • "But here comes Antony. Welcome, Mark Antony!" (Line 147, Scene 1, Page 50, Brutus) says Brutus, who is negotiating with Antony as he requests to speak at Caesar's funeral, which Brutus gives him permission to do.
  • Brutus explains to the Roman citizens for the reasons on why he and the conspirators murdered Caesar. "Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more" (Lines 21-22, Scene 2, Page 56, Brutus). Brutus also reveals that if Caesar's ambition had consumed him, he would have become a tyrant and treated the citizens as slaves. Brutus cleverly delivers this speech towards the minds of the citizens.
  • At Caesar's funeral, Mark Antony delivers a speech to try and get the Roman citizens to turn on Brutus and the conspirators, and that Caesar was not ambitious, by delivering his speech towards their hearts. He succeeds in doing so by finally reading Caesar's will, which stated that Caesar would have passed along his wealth and property to the citizens.
  • "It is no matter, his name's Cinna. Pluck but his name out of his heart and turn him going" (Lines 31-32, Scene 3, Page 68, Fourth Plebian). The Roman citizens slay Cinna the poet, as they mistake him for Cinna the conspirator, but are blind sighted by rage that they did not care to listen to the poor man.
