The narrator's father got a promotion in his job and had to move to a new house located on the outskirts of the city. Since it was far from the city side, his friends could not visit him.
Oh no, the mynah chicks!
Except for Bodh Raj, his classmate who was very odd and was often called callous, vindictive or vicious. He always had a catapult in his hand, he liked targeting birds with it and was good at his aiming. Since the narrator's new house had many trees with nests and animals, Bodh Raj found it a good hunting ground and would often come over.
The narrator's mother allowed Bodh Raj to come over as he would be company for the narrator. One day the narrator's mother told him to ask Bodh Raj to clean the storage room as it was filled with bird nests and Bodh Raj liked destroying nests.
When the narrator and Bodh Raj started cleaning, they saw some mynah chicks sitting on a nest in the window ledge. Bodh Raj took his catapult and aimed at them, but then suddenly they saw a big shadow of a kite coming towards the chicks. To the narrator's surprise Bodh Raj was now determined to save the chicks.
Bodh Raj told the narrator to distract the kite with his catapult, while Bodh Raj took a broken chair and climbed on top of it to take the nest down carefully. Bodh Raj saved the chicks!
Once they were away from the kite with the chicks Bodh Raj had suggested they give the chicks some water as they might be thirsty. So, they both gave the chicks water drop by drop making sure not to touch them. After this incident the narrator learned all lot about Bodh Raj and that he had a change of heart.
