  • THE FIRST CONTINENTAL CONGRESS

  • In 1774, there were 12 representatives. Those 12 were loyal to King George lll but stated that they shouldn't be taxed without having a voice in the government. If the intolerable act was not terminated, their items will be boycotted and nothing would be exported to England. (Boycott: To cease buying or using something as a protest.)

  • THE BATTLES OF LEXINGTON AND CONCORD

  • General Thomas Gage was the new governor of Massachustetts. On April 19, 70 minutemen arrived at the town but they were outnumbered with 700 British soldiers. The colonists hid behind trees and rock. 8 minutemen died but once the soldiers hid behinds rocks, they killed 250 British. This was enough to start the American Reveloution.

  • In 1773, The Parliament attempted to save a struggling East India company by letting them sell their tea to the colonists. Although taxes were reduced from the tea, the Parliament still taxed the colonists for it. The colonists were furious. Many men met up and called themselves the "Boston Tea Party." The party climbed up on a ship with the tea and dumped all of it into the ocean as a protest for the tea tax. This lead up to the American Reveloution.
