I have totake a really big biology exam today! I hope my brain is able to remember all the information I was studying last night.

Inside Olivia's brain...
Olivia is about to take her biology exam which means that herneurons need to be ready to be trigged by synapses to remember important information, which requires energy. We need our cells to start undergoing glycolysis in order to create the energy needed!

Inside the cytoplasm of Olivia's cells...
In the first step of glycolysis, glucose phosphorylates to glucose 6-phosphate whichresults in the loss of one ATP molecule.
In the second step, glucose 6-phosphate isisomerized to become fructose 6-phosphate.
In the third step, fructose 6-phosphate phosphorylates to become fructose 1,6-bisphosphate.

In the fourthstep, fructose 1,6-bisphosphate divides into two three-carbon molecules.
In the fifth step, dihydroxyacetone phosphate and glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate are interconverted.
In the sixth step, glyceraldehyde 3-phosphateisoxidized to become 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate.

In the seventh step, aphosphate group from 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate istransferred to ADP to form an ATP molecule and 3-phosphoglycerate.

In the eighth step, 3-phosphoglycerate is converted into 2-phosphoglycerate.

In the tenth step, a phosphate group is transferred from phosphoenolpyruvate to ADP to form an ATP molecule and a pyruvate.
In the ninth step, 2-phosphoglycerate forms phosphoenolpyruvate through a dehydration reaction.
Result: 2 ATP molecules, 2 NADH molecules and 2 pyruvate molecules
