These men need a leader and I am nothing! How can I tell them to keep fighting when there’s nothing to fight for.
This year I’ve lost too many friends and haven’t seen my family in over a year. If there’s a God where is he?
Corporal Ackerman!

Oh hello Corporal Ackerman, to answer your question God works in mysterious ways even I don’t always know why he does the things he do! But can tell you that your unit did not die in vain! Without the work of your unit then perhaps this war would not turn out in our favor! You guys are defending your freedoms and mine that could never be vain!
72 Hours later
We lost over a third of our unit how could he say that?? And what about people like Kennedy who died in vain in a never ending war??
Repeat:In God we trust!
Brave soldiers you have done a great thing for your country! God smiles upon you on this day!
Father Greg, do you truly believe that there is a God after knowing all the death and trauma my unit went through?? We lost over a third of our unit in battle
Thank you Father
That’s what I’m here for!
30 years later- 1973Tarawa Memorial Service
Hello All,Thank you for coming! I was corporal of the USS Marines 30 years ago during the battle of Tarawa one of the toughest battles in Marine Corps history. All of us have lost family and friends in this battle. 30 years ago I had trouble comprehending the death of our loved ones. I still have trouble understanding why them and not me but I have come to this conclusion. No matter who would’ve went we all fought for something. The American right to freedom which I have been fortunate enough to see generations embrace. The freedoms speech and expression and the democratic way of life.
