In the text the Oedipus Myth written by Aeschylus, he talks about a myth that came true in 467 BC. The myth consists of a king and a queen that learn that their child will want to kill their father and marry their mother. After learning this they will give the child to a Shepherd that has to abandon the baby, then leave him to die. Although, he doesn’t and gives him to the childless king and queen of Corinth. They raise him and name him Oedipus. Life is going all swell, and they end up raising him as their own until one day a man runs Oedipus off the road. With his honor on the line he fights this man and kills him not knowing it was his father. Not making any second thoughts about it, he goes to a town and they make him king because their old king (his father) was killed by Oedipus himself, but not knowingly. Also, he is to marry the widowed queen who is his mother which he does not know at the time. They end up having five children and a horrible plague comes to their town. Eager to find out what it is he questions the townspeople. He finally realizes the myth came true and gorges his eyes out for being blind to the matter, his mother also kills herself.
