  • Help? (scoffs). Help is for "dumb" people, and I am a very smart person.
  • Hi, sweetie. You look upset. Are you okay?
  • So basically, we have this project that is due and my professor.......
  • Hi, mom. I'm fine just frustrated.
  • what are you frustrated for. What happened?
  • For example, your topics are Anatomy and Physiology. Of course, you can do it on your own, no doubt. But your professor might see something you didn't. Or give you suggestions on how to start.
  • Naomi. Asking for help does not mean you are "dumb." Asking for help is like having an extra set of eyes or a 2nd opinion.
  • But asking for help is stupid and embarrassing! I'm in college where you have to do things on your own.
  • "What if I don't want an "extra" set of eyes or opinion!!?" Naomi says."Then that's okay. But I don't want you thinking that asking for help is stupid" Tonya says.
  • I felt like I wasn't alone in college. I had people to run to, even if it was personal or not. Having these people around and asking questions, made life easier for me.
  • When I was in college, your age, I asked for help. That didn't mean I was stupid. It helped me a lot in college.
  • Just because you're in college doesn't mean you stop asking questions or help. It just means you are curious of what to do next.
  • Naomi has a school projection that is due on Wednesday before class. The topic for the assignment is anatomy and physiology. She is frustrated because Naomi has little to no knowledge of these topics. Naomi thinks that asking for help is "slow" or "dumb" people only.
  • Maybe mom is right about asking for help, but I don't want to embarrass
  • Naomi is complaining to her mother about how she has this assignment that is due, and her professor asked her if she needed help and how she told her professor that asking for help is only for those who are not smart enough. And she will figure out on her own. Tonya tries to convince her to ask for help instead putting more pressure on her self.
  • After Naomi's mom tried to convince her daughter that asking for help is not stupid and embarrassing as much as she thinks it is, Naomi starts to get upset with her mother for not being on her side with this issue.
  • Naomi is starting to think her mom is right. Maybe asking for help is not as horrible as she thinks. Lately, Naomi has been a little trouble keep up with her assignments, so maybe his can help her life be more at ease. Naomi is thinking about what her mom said but, she is a little skeptical.
