The crew lands on the wind god's island and stay for a month. As a parting gift, a wind blowing them home towards Ithaca and a bag holding unfavorable winds. As Odysseus is sleeping, the men open the bag thinking it contains gold and silver. After visiting Aeolus' island again and the island of the Laestryones, they land on the island of Aeaea, home of Circe. There, he divides his men into two, one group will stay with him and the other will explore the island.
The men found the Hall of Circe, inside Circe was singing. The group, all but Euryolchus, head inside to greet her. Euryolochus was skeptical of it being a trap. Circe fed them a feast and shortly after turned them into pigs. They kept their human brains, but had pig bodies and couldn't speak.
"Eurylochus tells Odysseus what has happened and begs his captain to sail away from Circe's island. Against Eurylochus' advice, however, Odysseus rushes to save his men from the enchantress. On the way, he meets the god Hermes, who gives him a magical plant- called moly- to protect him from Circe's power. Still, Hermes warns, Odysseus must make the goddess swear that she will play no 'witches' tricks.'"
