- 7. Treasure
- Delinquent youths turn heros after daring fire rescue!
- 8. Result
- 9. Return
- Pony, Dally, and Johnny are now regarded as heroes. They saved all of the children inside of the burning church. They even made it onto the newspaper for their great deed! Johnny had to be taken to the hospital because he was injured quite badly in the fire.
- 10. New Life
- Johnny and Ponyboy now feel different about themselves, all of the Greasers, and the Socs. They now have a different outlook on life with a new set of eyes. But Johnny is in the hospital and not doing well at all. The Greasers make it to the hospital in time to tell Johnny that they beat the Socs in the fight. Then...
- 11. Resolution
- When some of the Greasers are visiting Johnny is in the hospital, he ends up dying right before their very eyes. Ponyboy then has to face the facts that at least he went out as a hero. Even though you think things cannot get worse, Dally dies to the police shooting him after he robbed a local grocery store.
- 12. Status Quo
- Ponyboy sees everyone differently now in life, as do they for him. Pony has to adjust his life to living without Johnny and Dally. He is completely devastated after losing two of his best friends.
- In the end, the reader realizes that this was all a piece of text that Pony was writing, the things that happened were real though. Pony makes peace with Darry and knows that the reason he is so tough on him is that he loves him and wants the best for him.
- Pony has to overcome all the bad things that happened in his life and has to make the best of it. Ponyboy gets out of all this pretty clean, He isn't sent to a boys' home, or brought up on charges.
