- EXPOSITION
- Pony boy!
- CONFLICT
- RISING ACTION
- After a long movie Ponyboy (greaser) gets jumped by a gang of socs when a group of greasers come to his aid. There is a major fight between the two gangs, one being the Socs who are very wealthy and the other being the Greasers who are poor.
- CLIMAX
- Dally, Pony, and Johnny go to a drive in where they meet 2 girls from the Soc side named Cherry and Marcia. Dally tries to hit on Cherry and offer her a coke but she says no and when he does not stop asking she throws a drink in his face.
- FALLING ACTION
- After Ponyboy arrives home late Darry and Soda Pop (Ponys older brothers) get upset with him for being so late Darry slaps Pony causing him to run away from home.
- RESOLUTION
- After running away from home Ponyboy and Johnny meet up when they soon get ambushed by a group of Socs. Johnny kills Bob (Soc) to protect Ponyboy from drowning.
- Johnny and Pony run away to a church so they don't get caught from what happened to Bob. after a week goes by Dally comes and takes them to get lunch. When they arrive home they see that the church has burned down and they go in to save some children that were stuck inside, while doing that johnny had broken his back.
- Johnny!!
- Johnny dies from his injuries, Dally and Pony and the rest of the greasers are all devastated and Dally says that Johnny was the one he really loved the most, so he ends up robbing a gas station and getting caught just so he could be dead.
