  • When people think of war often times they think of destruction and violence. The cold war was different thought. This war was an silent battle fought between the U.S. and the Soviet Union.
  • VS
  • The cold war began in 1947 as a result of tension between the two countries. The U.S. stood for capitalism and free markets while the Soviet Union was a strict communist country and they had state-governed markets.
  • Both sides were in competition to be the best which caused a lot of tension within the countries. They both had very strong and prepared armies which caused fear of war on both sides, so the war remained silent.
  • As the two countries rose in power the war continued to get bigger. Many conflicts came about such as the Berlin Airlift, and the Cuban Missile Crisis. The tension between the U.S. and Soviet Union also impacted wars such as The Korean War.
  • The war didn't end until more than 40 years later in 1991 when the Soviet Union dissolved.
