Oh wow I didn't know that, I've been trying to find ways to help with the prediabetes since it's still reversable at this stage. Any other tips?
For a prediabetic person portion sizes are really important. Eating smaller portions means that you're not flooding your body with too much glucose at one time which causes blood sugar spikes.
Losing extra weight helps your body become less insulin resistant, which is what breaks down the glucose in your blood. Diabetic people have developed an insulin resistance or don't produce enough insulin, and their blood glucose levels remain high
I heard that losing some weight might help me with my prediabetes. I don't usually workout, so can we start with something like light cardio? Maybe a 20min walk?
Of course, we can start off with some lighter exercise, especially for someone who isn't used to working out. As long as you're up and moving it'll be helpful for you, and yes for someone who is prediabetic losing some extra weight through diet changes and exercise can be very beneficial for you.
Drinks like soda and juice are extremely high in sugar, one soda can contain more sugar than the recommended daily intake. Try to make water your primary beverage instead.
I always knew soda wasn't the best for me, but I didn't know it could affect me that much.
That is a common misconception amongst people with prediabetes, but I'm happy I could give you some tips to help.
Thank you for all your help today, for a while I thought that being prediabetic I would inevitably become diabetic. I didn't know there were things I could do to avoid that.
